Diversity camouflaged

I saw this flower in the middle of the green and it intrigued me totally. I simply saw a flash of hot pink aka fuchsia in the middle of no where and very hidden in the garden of a client’s premises. I had to go up to the flower bed and reach down to move a couple of leaves to make way for this little one hidden in the middle of nowhere. Once done the beauty of the contrasting colours was totally astounding.

As I look at it right now I am reminded that we are all different and we all make up a very important part of life for God and He is the one who knows why we are different. The life and diversity brought by each of us is so amazing that we are important wherever we are and with whoever we are with.

I am challenged to stand up and be counted for being me and not try to be like others. I look forward for the master gardener to reach down and move the leaves that are currently in the way of my total revelation to the world. That day of revelation when the diversity will come out of the camouflage is closer everyday and I choose not to lose hope in the midst of diversity because if I do then I will remain hidden and not attain my God given purpose.

Sunset over the lake

This was a really intriguing sight a few weeks back. Standing on the top of the hill with a vast plateau below us was amazing…it was beyond anything we had ever imagined.

The vastness of nature and creation shows the vastness and greatness of our God. Even when there are challenges the sun will always rise and set. The day will start and end and Life will be lived. The challenge is to find and retain peace in the knowledge that we are here for a reason and our purpose has to be fulfilled.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

May we always find comfort and life in that word

Members of Parliament are NOT pigs!

Amazing read and thought provoking

Clearly I am losing my metal; see unlike patriotic Kenyans who adorned white shirts, convened at Uhuru for the #OccupyParliament match, I watched it from the comfort of my workplace.I was comfortably tweeting from my desk as Kenyans were mercilessly drenched by the mean ‘Black Marias’, saturated in tear gas, clobbered and arrested. For this, I salute the brave men and women who stand up for the nation’s honor.

I just have a little tiny big issue with what went down today;the pigs. I am a pig farmer and today, the key goal of the match was nearly lost on me at the sight of those pigs. For starters, that was Kes 100,000 worth of stock but that is beside the point. The distress that caused on the animals is what brought me to near tears as I took distressing calls from my own mother and sister(we grew up in…

Ask and you will receive

This scripture got me for some reason and I just had to send it out…

1 Samuel 16

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

16 One day he said, “Samuel, I’ve rejected Saul, and I refuse to let him be king any longer. Stop feeling sad about him. Put some olive oil[a] in a small container[b] and go visit a man named Jesse, who lives in Bethlehem. I’ve chosen one of his sons to be my king.” God gave the instructions

Samuel answered, “If I do that, Saul will find out and have me killed.”

Samuel responded with a question and God provided an answer

“Take a calf with you,” the Lord replied. “Tell everyone that you’ve come to offer it as a sacrifice to me, then invite Jesse to the sacrifice.[c] When I show you which one of his sons I have chosen, pour the olive oil on his head.”

Samuel did what the Lord told him and went to Bethlehem. The town leaders went to meet him, but they were terribly afraid and asked, “Is this a friendly visit?”

“Yes, it is!” Samuel answered. “I’ve come to offer a sacrifice to the Lord. Get yourselves ready[d] to take part in the sacrifice and come with me.” Samuel also invited Jesse and his sons to come to the sacrifice, and he got them ready to take part.

When Jesse and his sons arrived, Samuel noticed Jesse’s oldest son, Eliab. “He has to be the one the Lord has chosen,” Samuel said to himself.

But the Lord told him, “Samuel, don’t think Eliab is the one just because he’s tall and handsome. He isn’t the one I’ve chosen. People judge others by what they look like, but I judge people by what is in their hearts.”

Jesse told his son Abinadab to go over to Samuel, but Samuel said, “No, the Lord hasn’t chosen him.”

Next, Jesse sent his son Shammah to him, and Samuel said, “The Lord hasn’t chosen him either.”

10 Jesse had all seven of his sons go over to Samuel. Finally, Samuel said, “Jesse, the Lord hasn’t chosen any of these young men. 11 Do you have any more sons?”

“Yes,” Jesse answered. “My youngest son David is out taking care of the sheep.”

“Send for him!” Samuel said. “We won’t start the ceremony until he gets here.”

12 Jesse sent for David. He was a healthy, good-looking boy with a sparkle in his eyes. As soon as David came, the Lord told Samuel, “He’s the one! Get up and pour the olive oil on his head.”[e]

13 Samuel poured the oil on David’s head while his brothers watched. At that moment, the Spirit of the Lord took control of David and stayed with him from then on.

Samuel returned home to Ramah.

When was the last time you really sought God. His face and not His hand. Samuel is a great example of walking with God in all circumstances and serving God with all his heart. It makes me wonder how he could remain so sure that God’s plan is perfect and will come to pass no matter what. It never seems like any circumstance would deter his faith in God….Amazing…really amazing.

I desire to walk in that kind of relationship with God and be sure of His purpose no matter what is going on around me.

Just after the morning rain has stopped but the mist hasn’t lifted….this is the extreme freshness my soul desires daily. Freshness that only comes from God and spreads to the rest of the world…Freshness that will remain with me all the days of my life…Freshness that is certain beyond measure.

My heart and soul awaits the fresh fall of dew from heaven yet not only in the morning but as an ongoing part of my day.

Abounding Love

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
Joshua 22:5

But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.

Psalm 45:7
You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

Psalm 51:1
Psalm 51 ] [ For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. ] Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.

Psalm 52:8
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.

Psalm 69:13
But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation. IMG_20130428_130813

Psalm 98:3

He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Jesus Loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so, Little ones to Him belong, They are weak but He is Strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, The Bible Tells me so

Different with a reason

This is the Hydrangea bloom.

When I looked at the main plant there were many flowers with different colours and in different stages of growth. Some were budding, others were flowering, some were magnificent and other were beginning to die. There was also evidence of places where other blooms had once rested and were now no more. It brought some things to life:

  1. We are all in different stages of our lives and we will never be on the exact same spot as anyone else
  2. I must ensure that I bloom where I am planted and not covet the place of another
  3. No one is created like me so I cannot expect same thought patterns
  4. My uniqueness creates a very special colour that only Papa can explain and make more beautiful

From a distance the plant looked like its blooms were three main colours but close up the differences were so stark it was hard to believe that they were on the same plant. Now I am reminded of  1 Cor 12:12-30

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.

Be free to be who you were created to be and love being you….there is only one of you and you are here by design.

I am more than you see

Simple things make me happy these days…things like

  • A good night’s rest
  • A meal on the table
  • A friend’s call, text or email
  • Words like thank you, please, I love you
  • A hug
  • A smile
  • A softly spoken word of love
  • A look

You see I have never thought of myself as sentimental but off late I have realised that I am indeed totally sentimental. I have always been a toughy tooth, but recently I realised that under that tough exterior is just a girl. A girl who wants to be loved, appreciated, applauded, challenged, supported and rewarded…the list is endless.

Is that so bad? Maybe or maybe not…Well in the recent past some people around me have indicated that these needs can be an impediment to getting ahead. We have all heard the saying that nice girls don’t go far but is that really God’s design? If we were to be so tough and hardened, why did God make us with the inherent need to be loved and appreciated? Was it a mistake that we are born into families? Is it a mistake that we have a desire to belong?

I am clear on a few things and they are as follows:

  • If I love you I will tell you while we are both alive
  • I will celebrate you and our relationship
  • If you do not respond then I will take it that you are more important to me than I am to you
  • I will learn to live with that reality and probably walk away
  • I will take time to find peace within me and enjoy things on this side of heaven
  • I will work hard and make life different wherever I am stationed
  • I will take time to rest

You see, I am human, I get lonely, I hurt, I long for friendship, I love, I lose, I win, I fail, I cry, I laugh, I get mad, I feel hatred, I repent, I feel lost,  I feel alive, I find my way, I get tired, I scream in frustration, I dance for joy, I have desires, I may covet, I want more love and less pain, I want a better car, better outfit, better shoes, less drama in life, more joy and love. The other reality is that you may never see most of these stages unfold because I have mastered the art of keeping things away from the cameras. I have also realised that most people don’t really want to see the other side in those around them. However, when you see me composed in public know that I have gone through all the necessary phases and indeed I do go through the full range of motions that is why I get be alive and out here.

My prayer is that you will look at others around you and realise that what you see is not the full picture and take time to find out how that person is really doing…take time to love not just me but yourself and others too.

I am much more than you will ever see.
